Currently, no one specific funding source for protection activities exists because implementation of these plans is voluntary.  Nevada Rural Water Association’s services are free, however, and we encourage you to work closely with the Source Water Protection specialist .

As interest in the program grows within your community, local businesses may wish to contribute directly to some types of projects, such as signs or public meeting facilities.
A variety of state and federal funding sources can potentially be identified for specific projects that contribute to source water protection.  For example, should purchase of some land in a
protection area be desired, it may be possible to acquire a low interest rate loan from the State Revolving Fund.  Other types of funding may be available for activities such as watershed restoration.

The USDA has several agricultural conservation funds available to provide financial assistance to farmers currently practicing good stewardship, or that are interested in implementing land conservation practices, or for the purchase of conservation easements.  Examples of these programs are the Conservation Reserve Program, Conservation Security Program, Environmental Quality Incentives Program, and the Farmland Protection Program.
